Challenge II: Lack of R&D ability or weak R&D ability
Accustomed to do OEM, many eyewear enterprises do not attach importance to cultivating their own R&D abilities.
Although many of them established a R&D department, it may just play the role of translation or explanation to
others’ designed drawing, and most of eyewear enterprises do not consider designing by themselves. Even if they
consider, they may give it up due to the lack of suitable talents. Since they have not got intellectual property, there
will be many risks if they do domestic sales through infringement. It’s meaningless to do small business while it may
draw lawsuit to do bigger. If design and develop new product, the eyewear enterprises need to input large capital.
Even so, it cannot tell whether it will be succeed. What’s more, due to weak marketing ability, even if they successfully
developed new products, they might worry that the products can not sell out. The lack of R&D ability forces many export-sale enterprises to rely too much on overseas market, and lost great majority of control power.
